WEEK 08--officially two weeks left to the quarter and we are super tired. Things are wrapping up quite nicely though. We finished our poster and style frames, and are animatic is ALMOST done! We. Are. So. Close.
It's spoopy season so naturally for team bonding, we HAD to marathon Over the Garden Wall before Halloween. Unfortunately, Kate couldn't make it (again) so there are no pictures. She assumes that they all had fun without her... but who knows really.
During the weekend our film went into mild crisis mode, we ( and by we I mean out director) decided to drastically change the animatic and story so the plotline flows better. to put it into perspective, Quincy wanted to get rid of the first 2 mins of our film and rework the ending. This caused Kate to panic for a day because she was worried this was going to cause the production schedule to be destroyed. Ultimately, the film was changed for the better and we are so happy that with each animatic iteration the story just keeps getting better. This also resulted in an 8 minute and 11-second film which we are now slowly starting to scale back. Hopefully, by the end of the quarter, it turns into a 6-minute film...but ya know who knows at this point. Actually, scratch that- I should know- out film will be cut down so we don't have to animate 8 minutes of content.
At our Sunday meeting, we discussed a lot of the changes made to the animatic, listen to some of the sounds that the crew found to put in the animatic, and went over some of the layouts that the crew started to create.
On Monday, (Oct 28) we got a lecture by our amazing mentor Prof. Tessier about layout and staging. We are moving full swing into layouts so her advice/ wisdom was much needed and appreciated.
During Wednesday's class, we made some BIG changes. After the crew realized that animating 8 minutes is too much, we took the time to go through the animatic scene by scene to cut out anything that was unnecessary. So far we cut out 1 minute more of content! Hopefully, by our next meeting, we can shave that time down even more.
Shout out to Gaby and her boyfriend for making a lot of the sounds files for our film from scratch ...it's weird and we love it.

This is Kate's extremely low budget rendition of what happened at the Over the Garden Wall party. Sorry. |

Gaby, former Kroger cake decorator, made us these awesome Halloween themed lemon cupcakes. They were so good!! Awesome and healthy way to start out our day. |
