Week 05, field trips, and french fries.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....midterms.
On Sunday we got on the struggle bus and stayed on all week. Kate the producer is still on the struggle bus trying to write this post because the week was a blur. Never the less, week 5 was still productive, even though everyone had so much work to get done and not enough time to do it in. Let's dive into this week, buckle your seatbelt it will be a bumpy ride.

Our weekly Sunday meeting!!! For visual development, we worked on the final list of props and environments we still need to develop. The work our visual development team is producing is incredible, but there is not enough quantity. I think we are slowly starting to get complacent in some of the designs without exploring the extremes they could be. During the meeting, we tried to troubleshoot what the core of the issue is. Then, a new list was made and a better schedule with more realistic expectations. Hopefully, this works but- only time will tell.

Because the meeting went well we went on the first official Mandrake field trip to Paris Market *hooray* It was the first time Kate, Stephanie, and Andrea had ever been to this upscale store. To paint a picture for those unaware of  Paris Market: it's a french inspired store that mixes coffee shop with fancy interior design antique store. They sell everything from coffee to telescopes to organic baby toys. The whole place smelt like a candle, the pillows were $75, and honestly, we were underdressed.
Stephanie, Quincy, and Andrea trying to take a very quick picture- only mildly embarrassing.

Kate and a $65 plush version of Herman

After the first group outing, we still had a little time, so we went to 24 e. yet another place no college student could ever afford. 24 e. is a super high-end home store. It was so cool, the furniture and extras were such a cool mix of upscale New York apartment and hobo chic.
Literally has nothing to do with our film, but there was so much stuff to touch that Kate only took this one picture.
Our first meeting with visual development crew finally ended so Quincy and Kate headed back to the library to find a room to hold the story crew meeting. Unfortunately, when we got there the room we were using was taken. Not surprising though because we always get glared at when we occupy that room for more than 45 minutes. College students are like vultures when trying to find a place to work.
Thus, we ventured to the Pulaski House common room. The meeting went fantastic! We went through all the storyboards to further condense the story and make it as strong as possible. We are so close to being done with the story.  In celebration- and because Maeve was in the mood for french fries- we went to the Crystal Beer Parlor. The fries slapped but the greatest part was that Ryen got to join us. Ryen is a gem of a human that is directing her own film but is always there to support our film. *cries*
Left Corner= Ryen our biggest fan.  Right Corner= Maria looking like she's being held captive
Monday rolled around. It's demo day! and not like HGTV where we get to destroy houses--we learned how to paint effectively in photoshop in the style of our film!
Our amazing director and now Prof. Quincy sprinkling all of his photoshop knowledge

The rest of the crew.
After the demo, we separated to do individual crews and continued to work diligently. Or did we?
Jenna ft. work that has nothing to do with the Mandrake- cursed Kirby-
Jenna reprising her role as a plant, and Maeve...

Jane a carrot.... and Maeve

....Maeve the water basin.
Tuesday the story crew got together and had a baby meeting to discuss edits that had to be made by Wednesday's class. The meeting was brief but effective, then we just chilled and worked for the next few hours. Aren't we the cutest?

Maria educating us on the new food combo of white bread and sweetened condensed milk. Jane wondering why this actually needs to be in the production blog and Maeve hand modeling, holding the white bread next to Maria.

Special thanks to that old woman who stopped to talk to Quincy when we were at the Crystal Beer Parlor and to all the rich people that support Paris Market.
